This tip calculator is for anyone paying at a restaurant, bar or café who wants a quick answer without doing math at the table. Enter the bill, add tax if you like, choose a tip percent, and set how many people are sharing. The result shows what each person pays, the tip total and the grand total.

Everything runs in your browser. The amounts you type are never uploaded to a server. The tool only saves your last settings on this device so they are still there next time. The buttons are large and spaced for thumbs, so it works comfortably on a phone. Results are an estimate, so check them against your receipt.

How to use it

  1. Type the bill amount into the “Bill” field. If your receipt shows tax separately, enter it under “Tax (optional)”.
  2. Turn “Tip on pre-tax amount” on to calculate the tip on the bill alone, or off to include tax in the tip.
  3. Under “Tip”, tap 10%, 15%, 18%, 20% or 25%. Tap “Custom” to type your own percent.
  4. Under “Split”, tap the plus and minus buttons to set how many people are sharing the bill.
  5. Under “Rounding”, choose “Exact”, “Round total” or “Round each”.
  6. Read the amount in the green card, then tap “Copy summary” to copy the breakdown, or “Clear” to start over.

What it does

Yes. It is free to use, with no account or signup. Open the page, enter the bill and read the result.

Where is my data stored?

Calculations happen in your browser and nothing is uploaded. Your last inputs and settings are saved in your browser's local storage on this device, so they are there when you come back.

How do I save or share the result?

Tap “Copy summary” to copy the bill, tax, tip, total and per-person amount as text. You can paste it into a message or note. There is no file export.

What do the rounding options do?

“Round total” rounds the grand total up to a whole number, and “Round each” rounds each person's share up to a whole number. In both cases the extra amount is added to the tip.

Should I tip on the amount before or after tax?

That is your choice. The “Tip on pre-tax amount” switch is on by default, and turning it off calculates the tip on the bill plus tax.
