You add each purchase with a description, amount, date, category and payment method. The Overview page then totals what you spent this month, counts your transactions and shows the average expense.

Your expenses are saved in the browser on this device, and nothing is uploaded to a server. That keeps your spending history private, but it also means the data stays in this browser, so clearing site data removes it. The app opens with sample expenses you can edit or delete, so you can see how it works before adding your own.

How to use it

  1. Open the app and look at the sample expenses. Use the sidebar on desktop or the tabs on a phone to switch between “Overview” and “Expenses”.
  2. On the “Expenses” page, click “Add” to open the “New Expense” dialog. Fill in the description, amount, date, category and payment method, then click “Save” (or “Cancel” to close it without saving).
  3. Use the search box to find an expense by text, or filter the table by category.
  4. Open the menu on a row to edit or delete that expense. Delete the sample rows once you no longer need them.
  5. Go back to “Overview” to see spending this month, the number of transactions, the average expense, and the charts by category and by month.
